“It was a game, fitting bone on bone. I thought difference was rated to be the largest part of sexual attraction but there are so many things about us that are the same. Bone of my bone. Flesh of my flesh. To remember you it’s my own body I touch. Thus she was, here and here. The physical memory blunders through the doors the mind has tried to seal. A skeleton key to...

It's official! Our trip is booked!!!
March 11-17th, Ally and I (along with her mother, aunt, sister and sister-in-law) will be in Cozumel, Mexico! We’re staying at an all-inclusive resort. I have been so excited for this trip for about 8 months and it’s been a long road getting to the point where it’s actually booked. Ally’s mom is an expert bargain trip-booker and had some other ideas of Costa Rica and...

We sort of struck out (a little) this Christmas.
Although we got some awesome gifts, the few things that we actually asked for we didn’t get. We needed one of those goodie baskets that parents do with dish soap, shampoo, Clorox bleach wipes, etc. All of the things that you never actually want to buy yourself. Stuck out there. The major strike out however was on the mattress topper we asked Ally’s grandma for.
We asked for one of...

We got a new vacuum for Christmas.
Ally is trying it out in our tiny, tiny apartment and she is so excited that she looks like a crazy person. Like, for real, her eyes are really wide and she has a creepy smile on her face. Also: some new things that give me the crazy face:
Magic Bullet!!!
Dehydrator!! (oh god, banana chips! Jerky!!)
Kohl’s Giftcard!!! (whatever.)

confusementation asked: saw teh posts on having children that will have manners/common sense, and the prevalence of caesareans and misinformation. My mum's a midwife and a fan of natural birth and alternatives to intervention, so I know waaay too much about the process, but you're totally right - MOST caesareans aren't necessary, and are performed because they're requested or because the doctor...

YOUR PELVIS IS NOT TOO SMALL TO BIRTH.
This is infuriating to me! Several of the mama-to-be tumblrs that I follow have recently had their babies via c-section. I am going to venture out on a pretty well-founded limb and say that most c-sections are unnecessary and women are essentially tricked into believing that they are the best thing for their baby.
Most of the time, c-sections are precipitated by a cascade of equally unnecessary...

Ally and Käri's List of Things to Remember . . .
when we become parents.
1. When we tell our children that we are going into the toy store only to look, that means no one is getting anything. No means no. If our babies begin to tantrum, we will pick them up and immediately take them out of the store. We are not going to raise the type of spoiled, whiney, shitty brats that cry and tug on their parents’ clothes and kick and scream in the...

DADT REPEALED!!! →
mykindarain asked: Hey! I like your blog. What are you going to school for?
sarahjessmartin asked: My wife Leah has been following your fiancee for some time now, and will occasionally mention something your fiancee posted about you, and how it reminded her or me. It is so nice to see how uniquely similar we are after reading only a few pages of your blog. It is also pleasant to find another person who is interested in natural birth, especially a lesbian.

Prejudice can be everywhere. →
It’s amazing how homophobia rears its ugly head in places that you would least expect. In my experience, I’ve encountered far more heterosexism than homophobia but to me, it’s just as difficult on an entirely different level. Heteronormativity and heterosexism perpetuate the idea that “gays don’t exist” and if they do, “their experiences and how those...

Reason #453: Why I love my fiance.
Usually in the mornings, she’ll be checking her computer things and realize that she has to poop. She will alert me and sometimes think about if she’s really willing to stand up and go to the bathroom. Inevitably, she will realize that yes, she does indeed need to poop and she’ll get up and do this little shuffle/jog/scamper to the bathroom and it’s one of the most...
